A couple of rough weeks. Turns out that I didn't get any of the eight teaching positions I was up for after being assured of one for next year. And I hurt myself playing softball again, so I'm all gimpy on crutches with the same injury as last year but different side. Been kinda down lately, so you'll forgive the infrequent blogs. The kids are done at school but the teachers (and assistants like yours truly) have to go through till next week. I'm sure my outlook will improve as time marches on, the due date for baby Laurana approaches, and job prospects open up for next year. I am thankful that I at least have this job next year as well if nothing else pans out. The Lord will put me where he wants me I suppose.
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
This one is fairly predictable, exactly what we expect, but on a grander scale. Hank Azaria is tremendously funny as the heavy, Kahmun Ra (or something similar), the mummy from the 1st movie's older brother. Virtually the entire crew of characters from the first movie makes it into this one, along with a few new favorites that haunt the hallowed halls of the Smithsonian in Washington, D. C. The ground is familiar, almost comfortable and only rarely dips into the "oh geez, that schtick again" (I speaking here about fighting with the monkey). All in all, an amusing ride that ups the ante a bit and doesn't waste a lot of time. ***

I assume you tried for one of the teaching positions at the school where you are currently employed. If it were me, I would be uncomfortable and very hurt knowing they chose someone else over me especially if I had been promised a position; that just shows their honesty and loyalty levels. I am very sorry you have to deal with this stress. I cannot imagine what strain another year with these same people will do to you.
Ashley said the movie was "okay" but would rather have seen UP.
My problem is that many kids (at least in my area) don't know their basic history, so instead of it being all fun and funny, like it is for us ("Oh, Sacagawea giving him some attitude!"), I try to teach them about someone and, "Yeah, I saw them in 'Museum'!" Like that defines their character. So I really didn't like the 1st one as much as I thought I would (since I LOVE museums and am such a history/SS buff).
Bummer about the jobs. Sometimes, too, it's that they do stinky things like, "But he's such a good aide!" One of the ass't principals at the jr hi was passed up for principal over and over while they got rotten people who'd leave after a year. Finally, when a principal position opened at an elem, he took it and the jr hi seemed to suffer more. (We'll see about their action plan for next year.) So it could just be that...they don't want to lose you as an aide - which is crummy.
